Census records are well-known for containing variant spellings of names. However, both Pierce and Peirce are in current use. Until it is clear which of the spellings in the census record are due to census taker error and which are due to actual differences in usage, no attempt has been made below to sort out which spelling goes with which lineage. All families are listed below alphabetically by the first name of the male parent.
