During the history of the town of Oakfield, there have been two post offices.

Briefly, the history of these two is as follows:
1. Burleigh post office was established on 12 February 1894. It was renamed on 2 December 1912 as Oakfield (2) and is still operating.
2. Oakfield (1) post office opened on 14 June 1872, closed on 22 December 1894, re-opened on 16 October 1897, and closed on 30 April 1909.

1996 December 30:
   Karla Tower appointed Officer-in-Charge.

1997 June 7:
   Malcolm D Mersereau appointed Postmaster.

2002 Octobr 28:
   Nancy E. Smith appointed Officer-in-Charge.

2002 November 30:
   Torri M. Bates appointed Postmaster.

2015 January 10:
   Oakfield (2) post office was converted to a Level 6 (6-hour) Remotely Managed Post Office under the direction of the Postmaster of the Houlton post office.

today:
   Oakfield (2) post office is still operating.
