During the history of the town of Monticello, there have been two post offices.

Briefly, the history of these two is as follows:
1. Jewell post office opened on 24 September 1904 and closed on 14 September 1905.
2. Monticello post office opened on 1 July 1843 and is still operating.

   The circular postmark is 27–28 mm in diameter.

1939 December 8:
   The circular postmark is 33–34 mm in diameter. The outside vertical height of the four horizontal bars to the right of the circle is approximately 20 mm.

   Monticello post office was converted to a Remotely Managed Post Office under the direction of the Postmaster of the Houlton post office..

   Monticello post office is still in operation.
