During the history of the town of Fort Kent, there have been two post offices.

Briefly, the history of these two is as follows:
1. Fort Kent post office was established on 6 September 1843 and is still operating.
2. Fort Kent Mills post office was established on 11 April 1906 and is still operating.

   The oval postmark is approximately 30 mm wide by approximately 34 mm tall. The outside vertical height of the four horizontal bars to the right of the oval is approximately 18 mm high.

1906 April 11:

1967 August 31:
   The circular postmark is 32–33 mm in diameter. The four horizontal bars to the right of the circle are a little less than 6 mm apart on center.
