Overview: Range 4, Lot 25 plus two adjacent parcels that were formerly part of Range 4, Lot 24 comprise what is represented today (2016) by Canton tax map R7, Lot 2.

23:207
   Date: 7 April 1823
   Grantor: Joseph E. Foxcroft
   Grantee: Horatio Bisbee
Description: All of Range 4, Lot 25
   Notes:
      1. This purchase was secured by a $200 mortgage (22:219; 7 April 1823) with Joseph E. Foxcroft. This mortgage appears to have been discharged by 23:207–208, except (1) the date on both documents was 7 April 1823; (2) the latter document did not reference the mortgage; (3) and the amount of money ($300) seems much higher than would have been necessary to extinguish the debt. A later mortgage (70:214; 20 March 1844; “the lot on which I now live”) for $200 was made with Stephen Ellis, but the discharge of this mortgage has not been found.
      2. The information in note 1 above suggests that a structure was built on this parcel between 7 April 1823 and 20 March 1844. To be determined is whether this structure was replaced by a later one or added onto to produce the remains photographed on 12 August 2011 (see links below 2313:189–190).
