Documentation for Cornelius Thompson and (1) Judith [...]; (2) Margaret "Peggy" Thomas; (3) Mrs. Lydia Gilpatrick

Family Record

The family record (below, from page 91 of Eden town record book [1?]) of Cornelius Thompson. This record said that the children were those of Cornelius and "Judith his wife", but Judith's death date (1792) on the gravestone in the Brookside Cemetery indicates otherwise.

Census Data

The 1790 census of Mount Desert reported that the household of Cornelius Thompson was composed of 3 males "16 and upwards", 2 males "under 16", and 5 females. Based on the family record above, there were 3 additional individuals living in the 1790 household.

Property Transactions

When Bartholomy and Maria Theresa DeGregoire settled up with those who were living on Mount Desert Island land east of the French Line, Cornelius Thompson purchased a lot containing 120 acres "with land enough allowed for two roads, one lengthways of his lot and the other crossways of his lot" for "five Spanish milled dollars" on 28 March 1792 [Hancock County Registry of Deeds book 2, pages 116–117]. This parcel was sold by Cornelius Thompson and wife Peggy Thompson for $1500 to William Hull on 8 August 1799 [Hancock County Registry of Deeds book 6, pages 511–512].
