Documentation for Levi Higgins and Bathsheba Young



Levi Higgins, wife Bathsheba (Young) Higgins, and their then two children (sons Nehemiah and Elkanah) moved from Eastham, Massachusetts, to Mount Desert Island sometime between 16 August 1769 (the birthdate of Elkanah, who was born in Eastham) and 9 August 1771 (the birthdate of Eunice, who was born in what is now Bar Harbor).

1792 March 28: When Bartholomy and Maria Theresa DeGregoire settled up with those who were living on Mount Desert Island land east of the French Line, Levi Higgins purchased two lots totaling 100 acres for "five Spanish milled dollars" [Hancock County Registry of Deeds book 1, pages 451–452].

1796 April 4: At the first town meeting of Eden, Levi Higgins was one of three selectmen elected, Ezra Young and Samuel Hull being the other two.
