Research Needed

As can be seen from the census records above, by 1880, Eliza Jane Dodge was married to William E. Morong and had a 7-year-old son. It this, therefore, a mystery why on the monument for the Dodge and Morong families in the Rich Cemetery (Tremont), Eliza Jane is called "Eliza Jane Smith". Did she marry a Smith after her marriage to William E. Morong? Research is needed here.
