James E. Bernardini, the only child of James J. Bernardini and Elizabeth McLellan, was wounded in Germany during World War II, This notice was in the Bar Harbor Times of 21 December 1944 (page 1, column 5).
He died in France and was buried there. Several years later, his body was returned to the U.S., and he was buried in Ledgelawn Cemetery. This article is from the Bar Harbor Times of 2 September 1948 (page 1, column 4).
