Location. On private land on Reed Point, south of bar leading to/from Moose Island. UTM: 19T 0545869, 4904014; Lat./Long.: N 44°17′16.5″ x W 68°25′30.3″

Directions. From the intersection of Routes 3 and 102/198 at the north end of Mount Desert Island (just after you cross the bridge from Thompson Island), go straight ahead (south) onto Routes 102/198. In approximately 5.2 miles (and at the south end of the village of Somesville), turn right onto Pretty Marsh Road (Route 102). Travel on Route 102 about 7.2–7.3 miles, and turn right onto the south end of Cape Road. Follow Cape Road approximately 1.1–1.2 miles to Bar Road on the left (the second road/drive on the left after the water). Turn left onto this road, and watch on the left for a field that contains a mowed path leading to this cemetery as well as to Reed Point Cemetery and James Reed Cemetery. In about 50 feet, the path divides. Follow the left branch down the hill, and pass on the right of the granite posts of Reed Point Cemetery. Continue following this path to the cemetery, which borders the left edge of the path.

History. The cemetery is on land that was part of a 102-acre parcel owned by a J. Reed in 1808 according to the Salem Towne Jr. map.

Notes. The burial area is not enclosed, and there are no evident boundary markers. The graves are in an open area under tall spruce trees. Several stones are held upright by sticks. The stones, and presumably graves also, are oriented at various angles to each other.

Names and dates on gravestones and other markers. (complete as of 26 March 2000)
