Location: UTM: 19T 0556066, 4900788; Lat./Long.: N 44°15′29.4″ x W 68°17′51.5″

Directions: From the intersection of Routes 3 and 102/198 at the north end of Mount Desert Island, go straight ahead (south) onto Routes 102/198. In approximately 11.3–11.4 miles (about 0.8 miles of which are south of the blinking light in the village of Southwest Harbor), turn left onto Route 102A. In approximately 1.6–1.7 miles, turn left onto an unnamed dirt road (or if named, with no sign). This road runs along a large field that is enclosed by a wood fence. The cemetery is on the left in approximately 0.1 miles. It is so overgrown with vegetation that it is easy to miss.

History: Amos B. Newman sold (Hancock County Registry of Deeds book 481, page 410; 29 May 1911;) to the “inhabitants of the town of Southwest [Harbor]” an eight foot by fourteen foot parcel that was a “lot of land in the addition to the Newman Cemetery ... to be used by said inhabitants for a burial lot”.

Notes: This cemetery is in very poor condition. As of 8 August 2010, some dead wood had been cut, and it was piled in one corner of the cemetery on top of two stones. (That wood remained in August of 2016.) Vegetation in most of the interior of the cemetery has been cut, but it is growing unchecked along some sides and in the corners. What remains of a wooden fence is falling down.
