History. —
Notes. Mrs. Seth Thornton (Nellie Carroll Thornton) noted in her 1938 book Traditions and Records: Southwest Harbor and Somesville that the “graves are now in the shadow of great evergreen trees but the ground is cleared and the place easy of access” (p. 238). There are four pieces of one or more broken stones leaning against a tree. A portion of two words is visible on one of the pieces. This Richardson Burying Ground, the name used by Thornton (1938), is not enclosed, and there are no discernible boundary markers other than a dirt road along two of the sides.

Notes:
1Remainder of stone is in concrete, thereby obscuring any further information it may contain.
2Different middle initial on different stones.
3Thornton (1938) gave 6 months as age at death.
4Thornton (1938) gave TARWELL as Elvira's last name and noted that her burial place was "marked by a slate gravestone" (p. 237). A slate stone found in 2000 unambiguously reads FARWELL.
5 Difficult to read.
6Stone broken.
7This is perhaps Emily A. DANBY (q.v.)?
