Location. In woods west of Routes 102/198, across from the Babson Creek Nature Preserve (Maine Coast Heritage Trust property). UTM: 19T 0553177, 4913698; Lat./Long.: N 44°22′28.6″ x W 68°19′57.1″
Directions. From the intersection of Routes 3 and 102/198 at the north end of Mount Desert Island, go straight ahead (south) onto Routes 102/198. In approximately 3.8–3.9 miles, the tomb is on the right. Alternatively, the tomb on the left about 0.3–0.4 miles north of the traffic light at the intersection of Routes 3/198 and 102/198. It cannot be easily seen from the road.
History. —
Notes. This tomb is located in woods with no cleared area around it. The door of a short entry way is leaning forward, but the tomb proper is sealed by granite blocks. Engraved on the door is “Doct. Kendal Kittredge & sons” as well as a single death date (see below). A stone for Dr. Kendal Kittredge is in the Brookside Cemetery (q.v.).
