Directions. From the traffic light at the north end of Mount Desert Island, bear left on Route 3. Follow Route 3 for 10.0–10.1 miles to the intersection with Route 233. Just before the stop sign at the intersection, turn right onto Route 233 (Eagle Lake Road). Follow Route 233 (Eagle Lake Road) for 3.7–3.8 miles to the intersection on the right with Young’s Mountain Road, a private road. The gravestones are under a red maple tree along what appears to be an old fence line.
History. —
Notes. These stones do not appear to be in their original location. One stone is setting on a base (or pedestal) whose holes (for the iron rods that hold the stone in position) do not line up with the holes in the stone. Another stone is very close to the one described above but in an oblique position to it. A footstone (for a third, but missing, gravestone) is laying on the ground near the first two. The arrangement of the three gives the impression that they were deposited there.
